Learn programming to improve the strength and stability of hip, knee and ankle joints in both supine and standing positions in this workshop developed by the MERRITHEW™ team. The use of a Jumpboard with the Reformer allows the hip joint to be closer to an anatomically neutral alignment when transferring forces from the soles of the feet up through the body, promoting good biomechanics of the entire lower kinetic chain. Increased spring resistance emphasizes strengthening of the arms, shoulder girdle and legs.
This high-energy four-hour workshop, developed by the Merrithew Health & Fitness™ team, is a great opportunity for Instructors looking to bring music-inspired movement to their clients. Following the class template used in the Total Barre Foundation Course and with the same level of intensity, Instructors learn unique choreography to create a biomechanically well-balanced and fun Barre program. Incorporating light props such as the Flex-Band®, Mini Stability Ball™ and Toning Balls™ gives Instructors more flexibility for their clients in an hour-long, endurance-focused class. A recommended play list of music is provided, as well as suggested beats per minute for each segment, so you can build on this and select your own music to create theme-based classes (i.e. Disco, Acid Jazz, Reggae, and Salsa etc).
Stop Stressing your Hip Joints!
Your hip joint is where your thigh bone connects to your pelvis. This is a joint with tremendous potential for holding our torso with strength, and energy upright, connecting us also firmly through our legs to our feet and the earth. It is unfortunately an area which we load with tremendous pressure from above and from our legs and feet below. The amount of lower back pain, sciatica, hip pain and finally the slow wearing out of the joint winding up in hip replacements is mainly caused by simply not having the information you need to be able to do all the activities you love without stressing this joint. This class will teach you what this joint needs to maintain it's full range of motion and balance, and ease of movement. You will learn the simple anatomy and the work that you can do throughout your life to keep this joint strong, flexible, and powerful.
In this workshop we will focus on the upper body, you will learn routines for the shoulders, arms, and back.
We will free the ribcage to allow for a fuller three dimensional breath. You will learn exercises to address back, neck and shoulder tension. Keeping the shoulder aligned, tension free and with a full range of motion.
With the Yamuna balls you will learn how to increase flexibility, function and range of motion. Free your body to work more effectively getting more out of your workouts and improving performance while preventing injury and promoting greater circulation. Relieve soreness, tightness and restrictions in your body, improve posture and increase alignment with this wonderful techniques. Walk away with the perfect tool to roll away stress and tension on your own.
We will teach you how to unravel the layers of your body, go deeper, and learn what you need to take care of your own body for full body sustainability. You deserve to feel good in your body. Take the time to learn what it needs.
Fitness and Pilates instructors meet a variety of clients who are restricted in their movements for a variety of reasons. Often, spinal flexion is contraindicated due to osteoporosis, lumbar disc issues or a number of other concerns. Learn how to modify Pilates exercises in a range of intensity levels to create workouts that achieve the primary goal of limiting flexion while providing an effective full-body workout. Small handweights, Stability Cushions and the Flex-Band® Exerciser are used to increase upper body resistance while further challenging the stability of the torso in a neutral alignment.
We believe that just like every other part of our bodies, the face is subject to tremendous repetitive stress from very early on. We begin to frown, squint our eyes, clench our jaws, grind our teeth, tighten our lips and on and on. Each of us has tension patterns that we are no longer aware of that we do constantly, everyday all day. These patterns cause early bone loss, form wrinkles, cause sinus and tension headaches and TMJ, and a myriad of other challenges for our irreplaceable faces! In this workshop, you will learn to stimulate and align bones, activate muscle, increase circulation and tone, and reverse the effects of gravity, thereby keeping your face more relaxed AND beautiful! Learning how to work on your own face with specially designed balls will give you a way to prevent aging and when you feel the difference in your face when it is relaxed versus your normal, you will want to incorporate this work into your self care program
Please note you must have a Yamuna Face kit for this workshop please purchase a kit or bring your own. If you would like to pre buy your kit before the workshop contact Tiffany email@example.com
Learn how to use the YBR Balls to feel better, relieve stress and tension and get rid of pain while you travel and to help keep you going through out your day on the job.
We will review the anatomy of the knee and give a closer look at the patellofemoral joint. Look at why the knee can end of being the "weak link" in the leg, making the hip and the ankle do more than their fair share of the work. Finally, we will explore what Pilates offers to emphasize knee alignment and strength.

Explore the benefits of working on the Reformer for the older adult in this interactive workshop, developed by the MERRITHEW™ team. Despite decrements associated with aging, the ability to adapt to endurance and strength training is well documented. The Reformer provides widely variable spring tensions to address both upper and lower body as well as core training. Modifications of exercises and considerations for limited mobility and strength issues are discussed with a view to enhance core stability, increase lean muscle mass, increase range of motion and improve body awareness.
More and more older adults are maintaining an active lifestyle, and exercise is an important aspect of this choice. The STOTT PILATES® Split-Pedal Stability Chair™ lends itself perfectly to those who are decreasing strength and mobility may not allow them to work out on the floor or supine on other equipment. Learn how the features of the Chair create a routine focusing on core strength and stability, postural awareness and alignment, joint mobility and balance. Specific exercises, developed by the MERRITHEW™ team, focus on functional activities like stair climbing and getting up from a chair.
This hands-on workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, outlines the importance of postural analysis in programming STOTT PILATES® workouts. Review ideal posture as well as specific deviations found in flat back, sway back and kyphosis-lordosis posture types. Discover how muscle imbalances typically manifest in static posture and practice conducting postural analysis. Finally, explore common Pilates exercise choices and modifications to accommodate these imbalances and work toward restoring adequate length and strength in the musculature over time.

This workshop examines how the Halo® Trainer can be used to take advantage of movement patterns that recruit muscles of the global stabilizer system. The global stabilizer system of muscles functions in an integrated sling system. Each sling is comprised of several muscles and other structures. Together, they produce forces that assist in the transfer of loads that is essential to the control of movement. The focus of this workshop will be on the neuromuscular training of multiple muscle groups and motor patterns through anatomical linkages that unite the muscles of both the pelvic girdle and shoulder girdle to the spine resulting in improved functional outcomes
